Legal Counsel (Part time) - Accuro Trust Jersey

Description of Role and key responsibilities
  • To provide legal advice (within ATJ) to the boards of companies and the trustees of trusts administered by ATJ (and, where required, Accuro Trust (Mauritius) Ltd (ATM)
     
  • The provision of legal advice will relate to and include:
    - trusts, companies and other offshore structures;
    - risk management in relation to the creation and administration of  offshore entities; and
    - the drafting and management of legal and technical documentation.
     
  • The preparation of instructions to external advisers and acting as a central point of contact at ATJ for the engagement of external legal advisers.
     
  • To support and assist legal, tax and regulatory compliance reporting by ATJ (and as required, at Group level) including FATCA and CRS, Jersey economic substance, UK and international Trust registers, and tax compliance.
     
  • To maintain a wide knowledge and understanding of legal and private client tax matters as they relate to all aspects of the client business of ATJ.
     
  • To maintain a good knowledge of the current regulatory requirements and legal framework in Jersey.
     
  • To provide internal technical training to staff in accordance with the overall training plan agreed with the Training Forum and legal team.
     
  • To support new business development activities.
     
  • To work collaboratively within the Group Legal Form to support legal projects eg GDPR and updating of legal precedents.
     
  • To understand Accuro’s culture and values, to buy-in to these and lead by example.
Key relationships
  • Internal: members of the legal teams in Jersey and Geneva, Board members, senior management of ATJ; client teams  
  • External: professional intermediaries (lawyers, tax advisers and accountants)
Qualifications
  •  Minimum five years of relevant experience
  • Qualified Jersey advocate or English Solicitor/Barrister
  • STEP member (ideal not essential)
  • Law degree or equivalent (common law jurisdiction)

  • An up-to-date knowledge of trust and company law and (ideally) UK tax law
  • Sound knowledge of fiduciary structures and functions
  • Good attention to detail
  • Regulatory knowledge – understanding of the Codes, guidelines and expectations of the JFSC
  • Able to act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our clients fairly
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Able to identify and manage any relevant material risks
  • Solid relationship management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written/verbal/presentation) with staff and external intermediaries

Filing & Administrative Assistant - Accuro Trust Jersey

Description of Role and key responsibilities

To work as part of a team to provide an efficient filing and administrative service for the Company and in particular the client administration groups.

  • Messaging
  • To undertake some reception duties

Accurate filling of documents and maintenance of files, archiving & safe custody.

Key relationships
  • Within organisation: With all staff within the company at all levels
  • Outside organisation: Suppliers and contractors
Qualifications
  •  Minimum 3 years of relevant industry based experience preferred

Trust Business Employee: not applicable.

  • Adaptable and excellent team player
  • Methodical, thorough and attentive to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with both staff and clients
  • Good knowledge and systems skill base, in particular - MS office and in-house database (training to be provided)
